Quick guide
What can Color Picker help you do?
Free color converter. HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK. Includes complementary and analogous color suggestions.
Best for
Translate a six-digit brand HEX color into RGB or HSL for a stylesheet, or explore related swatches for a mockup. HSV and a basic CMYK conversion are also displayed, alongside complementary, analogous, and triadic color suggestions.
How to use it
Use the color control or enter six hexadecimal digits in HEX, with or without #. Click a clipboard button to copy that row. Clicking a suggested swatch makes it the new base color and recalculates every format and scheme.
How to read the result
RGB shows channel values; HSL and HSV show a hue with percentage components. CMYK shows a simple mathematical conversion, not a printer-profile result. The suggested schemes shift hue while keeping the base HSL saturation and lightness, with rounded displayed values.
Privacy and limits
Color calculations run in the widget without an image upload, external palette service, or CDN conversion library. Copy buttons place only the selected color string on your clipboard. This tool does not require access to a design file or brand account.
Only HEX is editable; three-digit shorthand, alpha transparency, and typed RGB input are not supported. Incomplete HEX leaves the other outputs unchanged. There is no contrast checker or print color management, so palette suggestions do not establish readability or a reliable printed match.
Frequently Asked Questions
HEX or RGB?
Both work the same. HEX is shorter (#FF5733), RGB is intuitive (255,87,51).
What is a complementary color?
A color directly opposite on the color wheel (180° apart) — high contrast.
