Best for
Compare foreign-currency price tags or sketch a travel budget by choosing an amount and two currencies. The tool cross-converts one USD-based rate table. It is not a bank quote, a trading screen, or a lookup of your account balance.
How to use it
Wait for the rate table, enter an amount, and choose the source and destination currencies. Swap reverses the pair. Check the unit rate and UTC update time together; use Retry if loading fails rather than interpreting an unavailable result as zero.
How to read the result
The amount is divided by the source USD rate and multiplied by the destination rate. Most currencies display two decimal places; JPY and several others display whole units. Separately rounded rates and totals can produce small differences when reversing a displayed conversion.
Privacy and limits
Your browser requests the table from open.er-api.com, which receives connection information. The request URL does not include the amount; conversion happens locally after loading. No bank credentials, account number, or transaction details are needed to compare currencies here.
A warning appears when the table is over 48 hours old, but a newer timestamp is not a promise of an executable quote. This estimate excludes spreads, card markups, and transfer fees. Confirm actual rates and costs with your provider.

Rates are updated daily from global FX markets. For live trading, use your bank's posted rates.
Why are bank rates different?
We show "mid-market rate". Banks add a buy/sell spread of typically 1-3%.
Does it work offline?
No. A network connection is required to download current exchange rates.
