For sensitive data, blackout is safest. Verify the downloaded image before sharing; blur and pixelation can retain recognizable clues.

Quick guide

What can Image Blur / Redact help you do?

Free image redaction tool. Blur, pixelate, or black out private information in screenshots, IDs, bills, and photos.

Best for

Use this to manually cover visible names, account details, or other information in a screenshot or photo. Blackout, blur, and pixelation brushes suit small editing tasks. There is no automatic personal-data detection, text search, batch redaction, or completeness check.

How to use it

Choose an image and drag over sensitive areas using the default blackout mode. Brush size starts at 36 and ranges from 12 to 96. Download the PNG when finished. Reset restores the whole loaded image rather than undoing only your last stroke.

How to read the result

Images wider than 1100 pixels are scaled down proportionally, so the downloaded PNG may not retain source resolution. It contains the current canvas. Open the actual download and zoom in to inspect edges, small text, and gaps between covered areas.

Privacy and limits

Editing happens in browser Canvas with no remote recognition or image-upload step in this code. Original loaded pixels remain in page memory to support Reset. Download exports the current canvas; the tool does not produce a metadata inspection or privacy audit.

Blur and pixelation may retain recognizable clues. Fully cover sensitive content with blackout and allow enough margin around it. The tool cannot judge whether information is sufficiently hidden. Verify the downloaded image and avoid accidentally sharing the untouched source alongside it.
