Random Picker
The decision-maker
Quick guide
What can Random Picker help you do?
Free random picker. Enter options, get a random pick. Perfect for "what to eat", "who pays" decisions.
Best for
Use this to draw one item from a list or shuffle every item into an order for turns or activities. A single draw can use weights, while a full shuffle ignores them. Winners remain in the list and can appear on later draws.
How to use it
Put one option on each line and replace the initial lunch examples. Blank lines are ignored. Add a trailing nonnegative integer weight, such as Pasta@3; ordinary lines have weight 1. Choose a single draw or a full shuffle, or clear the input and result.
How to read the result
Single draws select from cumulative weights, so an item marked @0 is excluded from that operation. Full shuffles still include it and ignore all weights. Duplicate labels remain separate entries; a shuffled list is not a weighted ranking or a record of previous winners.
Privacy and limits
List parsing and random selection take place in the browser. This widget has no list-upload, saved-history or share-link feature. Use aliases instead of full names when projecting a participant list, and remember that clearing the page does not remove screenshots made elsewhere.
Selection uses ordinary pseudorandom numbers, without an auditable draw record. Decimal or negative weight suffixes are treated as ordinary text rather than weights. Empty lists or all-zero weights can leave an earlier result visible, so clear stale output before interpreting a new draw.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it truly random?
Uses browser Math.random() — pseudorandom but fair for everyday use.
