Time Duration Calculator
Calculate elapsed time
Quick guide
What can Time Duration Calculator help you do?
Free time duration calculator. Calculate elapsed hours, days, and minutes between two date and time values.
Best for
Measure the interval between two full date-and-time values, including events spanning several days. Results are shown in hours and days. This is not a payroll or business-day calculator: breaks and weekends are not deducted, and separate city time zones cannot be selected.
How to use it
Choose both local date-times and calculate. The browser's local time zone interprets the entries, so convert records from different zones before comparing them. Reversing the two entries keeps the same positive duration rather than indicating event order with a negative result.
How to read the result
The absolute time difference is rounded to minutes, then expressed in hours and 24-hour days. These days are duration units, not a count of calendar dates crossed. A local calendar day around daylight-saving changes can have a different elapsed length.
Privacy and limits
The browser parses the two entries without accessing your calendar, meeting account, or location service. Only the times are needed. Before sharing an interval, consider whether it reveals a private schedule, work shift, or other sensitive activity.
Nonexistent times in a daylight-saving gap are rejected. For a repeated local time, the browser chooses one occurrence. Check the original timestamp and UTC offset before using the duration for contracts or payroll; this tool does not determine legal deadlines or paid hours.
